Even though we stayed for almost a week, it felt more like we were passing by Sacramento. We arrived at night, and didn’t have any change to take the bus – but the driver let us ride anyway, probably because of our exhausted faces. Sacramento was not in our plans at first, but we had met William in Paris a few months before our wedding and, long story short, he invited us to stay at his place during our time in California. He also gifted us with an incredible wedding present: 5 days of car rent so we could do a proper Californian road trip!  How cool is that, you ask ? Cooler than cool!
When we arrived at his place, William greeted us with a delicious diner and great margarita, that we ate and drank while talking with him and his roommate. We had a great time with them, including some lounging by the side of their residence pool, lots of tv shows watching, and talks about the history of Sacramento. This city is highly linked with the Gold Rush in 1849, when people went to the West in search of a better life. As a matter of fact, the Highway 49 passes through former gold rush settlements, and takes its name from the wave of immigrants called « 49ers » (not the football team) because of this date!

Probably one of the best thing we’ve done with William and his roommate was to go to Sudwerk, a brewery in Davis for some Beer Tasting! I’m not usually into beer, but the whole process made it really fun. We all shared our preferred beer, and traded the one we liked the least.
After that, we went to a place that had delicious vegan food, total dream!! California is so good with vegan food…

Our passing by Sacramento was interrupted by our Californian road trip, offered by and planned with the help of William, and the only time we really moved our asses to go see some part of the city was on our last day when we went to get our bus ticket for the next stop: Oakland!
